WavePort Player

The player on its own — no syncing, no transcoding.

WavePort Player — formerly the SoundSync Mini Player — is the player half of WavePort Sync as its own installable app. It plays a folder of local audio or streams tracks straight from SoundCloud, with a real play queue, true shuffle, gapless and crossfaded transitions, custom playlists, seek, volume, and audio output device selection. It minimizes, closes to the tray while it keeps playing, and docks to any screen corner or edge. Installed alongside the full app it pairs automatically and plays your synced library; on its own it plays any folder you point it at. Because it carries no transcoding toolchain, the installer is a fraction of the size of the full app.

Programme notes

What WavePort Player does inside the rooms it lives in.

Player only, much smaller

Bundles just what streaming needs and leaves the transcoding toolchain out, so the installer is a fraction of the full app's size.

Real play queue

Play next, add to queue, and reorder while playing. Shuffle has an explicit on/off state rather than a hidden toggle.

Local files or streaming

Play any folder you point it at, or stream a track directly from SoundCloud.

True shuffle, not random

A no-repeat bag rather than independent random picks, so a cold start does not always open on the same track and playing through a 100-track library actually reaches all 100.

Gapless, crossfade, and smart transitions

Equal-power crossfade and gapless handoff, working for streamed sources as well as local files. Next-track preloading is bounded by a 250 MB ceiling so tracks start without buffering and without eating memory.

Custom playlists

Build playlists that mix local files and streams in one list, independent of what the full app is syncing.

Docking and close-to-tray

Minimizes, closes to the tray while it keeps playing, and snaps to any screen corner or edge — a desktop widget rather than a window you reposition after every resize.

Picks up a full install automatically

If WavePort Sync (the full app) is installed, the player reads its download folder and monitored sources — read-only, it never changes them. On its own, you choose a folder from its tray menu.

Output device selection

Choose which audio output device plays, plus seek, volume, and continuous playback.

Common questions

Helpful answers for people getting started with WavePort Player.

This is starter guidance — the rest of this page carries the full details.

How to get in

Setup, step by step.

  1. Download the WavePort Player installer and run it (silent install with /S is supported).

  2. Open it from the desktop shortcut or the tray icon.

  3. If WavePort Sync is installed, your synced folder and sources are picked up automatically.

  4. Otherwise, pick a folder to play from the tray menu.

Good to know

  • Windows x64 only. Installing WavePort Sync also gives you this player — install this on its own when you only want playback.
  • The two apps are a pair but neither requires the other.
  • WavePort Player is the new name of the SoundSync Mini Player — same app, same publisher. The current installer and this page's address (/apps/soundsync-mini-player) keep the old name so existing links and installs keep working.
